¶ DZD Awards
The call for the DZD Awards is usually open in December and January. DZD NEXT members can apply
- with a conference talk or poster abstract for the DZD NEXT Outstanding Young Investigator Award endowed with 1000 EUR.
- with science communication activities for the DZD NEXT Best Science Communicator Award endowed with 1000 EUR.
The DZD Awards Ceremony takes place during the spring DZD workshop.

¶ DZD NEXT Outstanding Young Investigator Awards
Criteria
- DZD logo on poster/slides
- Presented results must be mostly own work
- Presented at a conference with an abstract selection process (no internal institute seminars, DZD Diabetes Research School, DZD NEXT Symposium)
- Applicant has not received the DZD Award before
Evaluation criteria
- Excellence of the scientific results presented
- Quality / clearness of the presentation
- Applications that do not meet these criteria cannot be considered.

¶ Can I apply for both awards at the same time?
Yes, an application for both the DZD NEXT Outstanding Young Investigator Award and the DZD NEXT Best Science Communicator Award is possible in the same year. However, the evaluation committee will ensure, that one applicant will not receive awards in both categories.
¶ I previously won a DZD NEXT Outstanding Young Investigator Award, can I still apply for the DZD NEXT Best Science Communicator Award?
Yes, you can. It is only not permitted to apply to an award category in which you have been previously selected as awardee.
¶ I presented my research during a DZD Diabetes Research School. Can I apply with this for the DZD NEXT Outstandind Young Investigator Award?
No, the DZD Diabetes Research School tries to give every participant the opportunity to present their research. Therefore a strict review process is not implemented.
¶ I presented my research at the DZD NEXT Symposium. Can I apply with this for the DZD NEXT Outstandind Young Investigator Award?
No, the DZD NEXT Symposium tries to give every participant the opportunity to present their research. Therefore a strict review process is not implemented.
