¶ DZD NEXT Conference Travel Grants
Are you planning to visit a conference or a technical training course? A DZD NEXT Conference Travel Grant can support you with your travel expenses with up to 400 € per year.
This travel grant sponsors your travel and lodging expenses related to:
- Participation at national or international conferences
- Participation at relevant technical training courses (online or onsite)
- Short-term visits at collaborating DZD partner institutes
Who can apply for a DZD NEXT Conference Travel Grant?
- Open to all DZD scientists (including associated partners and project partners) under 40 years of age

¶ DZD NEXT Research Travel Grants
Tight international collaborations are mandatory to successful research. The DZD wants to establish new and tighten existing research collaborations with key players in diabetes research. Technology transfer and sharing established methods is very important in this regard. Therefore, the DZD partly funds short-term research stays of young DZD scientists in laboratories abroad.
Eligibility
- All DZD researchers under age of 40; excluding group leaders.
- DZD NEXT membership required: Application: DZD NEXT Membership
- Research stay in international lab (in Germany not applicable).
- Research stay has to be in scope of the DZD research program. Aim of the research stay has to be technology transfer, sharing established method or establishing new collaboration.
- Duration of research stay at least 10 working days.
Funding
- Traveling and accommodation costs are eligible.
- DZD fund: max. 2.000 €; 50 % of total costs for traveling and accommodation have to be funded by other sources.
Selection
- DZD Managing Director and DZD NEXT Manager will prove the application.

- Short letter of recommendation of DZD supervisor.
- Confirmation, that salary will be continued and 50 % of costs for traveling and lodging will be funded by other sources.

¶ FAQ: Travel Grants
¶ Do I receive the Travel Grant money on my personal account?
No, the travel allowance will be transferred to your institute by the DZD. You will therefore be reimbursed for the trip like any other business trip. If you are asked in the travel expense reimbursement claim if you have received further contributions from other sources, indicate "no", as you have not received it on your personal account. Otherwise the DZD NEXT Travel Grant money will be deducted from your reimbursement.
¶ Is there an application deadline for the DZD NEXT Travel Grants?
No, you can apply throught the year. However, we advise you to apply for your DZD NEXT Travel Grant as soon as possible.
